New Chapters

I missed the deadline by 5 hours :(   But I'm adding my spiral-paradox today anyway! The Diva's challenge this week is to use the new tangle, Fengle. The best part was that I'd received the nesletter already and had started mine before the Diva posted the challenge....so for the first time ever, I'm in the 20's of tanglers!

Challenge #62: Spiral and paradox

Challenge #63: Fengle - with some footlights...

This last Sunday, we had the first ever Micro Nipper Carnival! (Micro Nippers are U6 and U8 at the Lifesaving club...I coach the U6s, and we call ourselves the Starfish!) EVerything was for the little ones to participate and have fun, have a look at the pictures and you'll see what I mean!
U6 flags with Travis diving like a pro!

The surf dash and boogie board dash...

We ave a public holiday tomorrow (Wednesday) so no work and late sleep in! I'm going to play with Fengle again, and try finish my daisy drawing!

Happy crafting

Hi all!

and an interesting week it has been too! We're in the last days of summer here - the wind is starting to pick up, which means autumn is around the corner! I had a birthday last week and was treated royally by friends and family alike (I'm now officially on the wrong side of 40...but as my hubby always says "You're only as old as you feel!")

Challenge #61 was interesting and fun, as it involved one of my favourite tanglers, Mariet. You can visit her blog here and for all sorts of inspiration, have a look at her  Flickr site, she is a very talented lady!

Challenge #61 with Golven, cadent, and leafy-things

On Wedneday 29 February, the Nippers had a break form training and had a fun Mini Olympics instead. Teams were made up, and fun races were held including "Water Polo" with a greased up watermelon! Ever watched 30 children trying to hold and then throw a watermelon that keeps slipping out of their hands?! As usual, I had my camera handy, and couldn't resist this photo which I've titled "Sitting Ducks"

On a different creative note this week, Caitlin (my eldest gannet) came home from school raving about the iced tea that they'd made in Domestic Skills. I tasked her with making some to taste....it was delicious! So.....here's the recipe:
Make tea with Rooibos teabags (at least 4), let it soak /draw and then add cold water (at least 1litre). add honey for sweetness. For lemon flavoured tea, add lemon juice; for mint flavoured tea, add a few sprigs of fresh mint. Leave it the fridge overnight. Enjoy!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, keep crafting

New Orleans

Ok, so I missed the deadline for challenge #59, but here it is anyway. :(

My version of Challenge #59, finally completed!

My hubby went to New Orleans lst year in January for his annual work conference and came back with some stunning photos...just for me!

The reflection in the swamps

I did it!!  I managed to get the challenge done on time this week! I'll admit, though, that munchin is not my favourite tangle, but I think I got it right!
Challenge #60

I'm so proud of both the gannets...we had Western Province Nipper Champs this last weekend (half day saturday and all day sunday) to see which is the best club in our province! We've battled with numbers this year because of the shark attack in the bay as the nipper season opened, but our numbers are improving which is great! The youngest gannet (Michaela) made the finals for the U10 flags and was the 3rd one out, so she came 7th overall. Caitlin, the oldest gannet, came 10th in the Iron Nipper - this race consists of a n-shaped arena that is 70m deep by 120m across - and they swim the circuit, then body board, then malibu  (also called a kneeboard) the circuit!

Now we start training for SA Champs which is all the clubs in South Africa! Busy bsuy busy!

Happy crafting everyone
